Through his workshops, consulting, leadership coaching, speeches and social media channels, he has helped thousands of people and global brands like Facebook, Walmart and Kraft to strategically approach key initiatives through accelerated performance. After more than 10 years practicing as an Executive Coach, Angel has developed The Gomez Method ™ (pending) to coaching current and aspiring Latino Executives.


Before launching his practice in 2008, Angel served as the Vice President of Human Resources for the Midwest Division of Walmart Stores, Inc. In that capacity, Angel developed strategies, processes and practices that enabled the $55 billion business unit to achieve their objectives by leveraging its talented workforce. 


Angel joined Walmart Stores, Inc. in 2004, after a successful legal career in private practice and the organized bar. He was a partner at several large law firms in Chicago, andserved as the President of the Hispanic National Bar Association, representing the interests of more than 25,000 Hispanic attorneys, judges, law professors and law students throughout the United States. 


Angel has been recognized by several organizations, including iConexión, which presented him with the Game Changer Award in 2018, the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement with their Maestro Award in 2014, and Hispanic Business Magazine, who in 2002 named him one of the Most Influential Hispanics in the United States.

Dr. Rodriguez specializes in enterprise diversity strategy planning, employee resource group optimization and Latino talent management programs.  Over 200 corporations have sought his expertise and consultation to develop proactive diversity initiatives that have a positive impact on business results.  So many corporations rely on Dr. Rodriguez for insight on their diversity initiatives that Hispanic Business magazine named Robert one of the Top 100 Most Influential Latinos in Corporate America.  In 2017, Chicago United selected him as one of the Business Leaders of Color.   

 

Prior to starting DRR Advisors, Dr. Rodriguez held non-profit, academic and corporate leadership roles. Dr. Rodriguez currently teaches executive education courses at both the University of Southern California (USC) and Southern Methodist University (SMU). He previously held leadership roles at Fortune 500 firms, including Target Corporation, 3M Company, Amoco and The Washington Post.     


Dr. Rodriguez is a columnist for Diversity Executive magazine and was formerly a writer for Human Resource magazine.  He’s written for, or been quoted in, the Chicago Tribune, BusinessWeek,  The Wall Street Journal , The Washington Post , Hispanic Executive and Latino Lea ders magazine .   


Robert is best known for his books, Latino Talent: Effective Strategies to Recruit, Retain and Develop Hispanic Professionals and Autentico: The Definitive Guide to Latino Career Success which is used by dozens of corporations as a framework for their Latino diversity programs.     Dr. Rodriguez holds doctorate in Organization Development and is a graduate of the Latino Leadership Institute at UCLA.

José is a recognized driver of global talent and organizational effectiveness. He has spent the past 25 years focused on attracting and coaching high potential talent, and enhancing organizational culture, capabilities and learning processes. He is actively engaged in the Startup movement in South Florida and Latin America.

 

José has worked in the logistics, retail, consumer goods, and consulting sectors across diverse leadership and senior consulting roles. His roles ranged from business unit-country level  to senior regional and corporate Human Resources executive in Latin America, the United States, Canada and Europe. He was EMEA Regional HR VP in Nabisco, VP HR Coca-Cola in Atlanta and Brazil, VP HR for Walmart US and Walmart Latin America and Senior VP HR DHL Express Americas.

 

José has lived and worked extensively in Venezuela, Brazil, Mexico, Spain and the United States. He is a global traveler and is fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese.

 

José received his degree as an Economist from the Universidad Central de Venezuela. He also received a MBA in Industrial Relations from the University of New Haven. 


He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of Walmart de Chile and Walmart Central America. He's a board advisor for TECHO and a mentor at ENDEAVOR.
